Patricia Hogan

Patricia Hogan (RYT-200hrs) didn’t plan on falling in love with yoga when she took my first class in college in 1968, but she did. When she was in that class, it felt so familiar - like returning home. It was the first time she ever paid attention to her breath or to her spine in any meaningful way. In 1968 the entire world was roaring, and she was in her early 20’s. Years flew by. In those hard working middle years motherhood and midwifery were her passions. Mother of 3 and Certified Nurse Midwife, beautiful life was all around her. She was a practicing midwife for 20 years.

Fast forward to 2004 when Kailua became her half time home, and she came back to yoga. With more precious time of her own, she kindled her old flame. In 2018, she was certified as a yoga teacher after completing the Advanced Studies/Teacher Training at Aloha Yoga Kula/Blue Lotus Kailua. She was trained by the best.

Breathing is the rhythm of both birth and yoga and she draws on that similarity. Yoga makes students and teachers feel happy. She likes to think practicing yoga makes the world a happier planet. We all come to yoga for our own reasons: exercise, wellness, increased flexibility and strength, harmony, peace, community, medicine, or maybe a longing for a deeper sense of self and the divine. What she has found in yoga is that you find them all.

The handful of flowers mudra is beautiful in it’s simplicity. Open palms together making an offering. Patricia offers what she knows and hopes you will do the same. Namaste.
